You Cannot Lead External Change While Living in Internal Chaos

Lead outward, but overflowing inwards

Many social project leaders, churches and organizations go through the same thing:
serve, accompany, resolve, sustain others... while internally living with full agendas, saturated emotions and little breathing pause.

We want to lead an external change, but sometimes we do it from a internal chaos:
accumulated tiredness, lack of clarity, blame for not “doing more”, difficulty saying no.

Reality is simple and confrontational:
You can't lead an external change in a sustainable way if you live in internal disorder..

The sustainability of your project begins in the sustainability of your life

When your mind is saturated and your heart is exhausted, they resent:

  • the quality of your decisions,
  • your relationships with the team,
  • your creativity to solve problems,
  • and your ability to listen and discern.

Taking care of your interior is not a luxury, it is a leadership responsibility.
Your project needs your best version, not your version to the limit.

A simple habit to sort your insides

It is not a question of adding another endless list of “self-care” tasks, but of building a small, constant and meaningful practice.

The invitation is simple:

Every morning, spend 5 minutes reviewing your goals and thanking you.

Five minutes may seem little, but they are enough to make a difference in how you get in a day. This little habit may include:

  1. Review your goals of the day or week
    • What's really important today?
    • What if or if it should move forward?
  2. Recognize and thank
    • For what has already been achieved.
    • To the people who are with you.
    • For the opportunity to serve.

This act of reviewing and thanking has three fundamental effects:

  • Focus: You stop responding to the urgent and connect with the essential.
  • Peace: remember that you are building not only from your effort, but from a greater purpose.
  • Reasons: you look back at the “what for” of what you do, not just the “what” and the “how”.

Why this habit has so much power

Sustainable leadership is not built with large isolated moments, but with small repeated habits day after day.

This 5 minute habit:

  • Trains you to pause before acting
  • Helps you sort priorities instead of reacting to everything,
  • Reminds you that your value does not depend on the amount of things you do, but on who you are and where you serve from.

Sorting your inside won't eliminate all the challenges, but it will change How you get to them.

Signs that you need this pause

Perhaps it is time to integrate this habit if:

  • You start the day in a hurry, without clarity of the important;
  • feel like you live “turning fires off” constantly;
  • you have difficulty enjoying the achievements because you are already thinking about the next problem;
  • you find yourself more irritable or discouraged than usual.

It is not weakness to recognize this. It is wisdom.
Your project is not only sustained by your strength, but also by your ability to care and put healthy limits.

Being holds the doing

In SIGUE Network we speak of a truth that crosses all axes:
the being holds the doing.

Before roles, goals and results, there is a person.
A leader who feels, gets tired, dreams, needs to be accompanied.

Taking care of yourself doesn't mean giving up your call; it means protect him So it doesn't go out because of exhaustion.

Conclusion

The leader who takes care of himself ensures the permanence of his mission.
If you want your project to be sustainable, start by building practices that sort your interior and return focus, peace and perspective.

In SIGUE Network We believe in leaders who serve from the fullness, not from the wear.
